THREE OCEANS COACHING
We're based in the Columbia River Gorge — one of the premier downwind training environments in the world. We coach paddlers, run downwind camps, and offer lessons for paddlers looking for improvement.
We built this plan because good training plans should be accessible. The paddling community is small and tight-knit. We'll be doing every session of this plan ourselves, on the water in the Gorge. This isn't a product. It's how we're training this year — and we're inviting you along.

Frequently asked questions
Is this plan for me?
It is if:
You have been training by feel and want to know what a real structure does for you.
You're targeting a major race (World's in October but any major race will do), and you need a periodized build up.
You're dreaming about Worlds - or just want to train like you are!
You paddle surfski, OC1, or both!
You want a community of paddlers to train alongside, anywhere in the world.
What can I expect in the training plan?
The training plan is a 28 week periodized plan, with the goal of racing the World Championships in October, plus a few events along the way, including the Gorge Downwind Champs.
There will be 5 sessions per week, but you can do what you have time for. They key sessions will be identified.
What equipment do I need?
We like to train with a heart rate monitor and a stroke rate sensor. We use the Vaaka Cadence Sensor - they are available on our website.
These are optional tools to help you in your training.
Safety note
You are responsible for your own safety while training.
Be a safe and responsible paddler and always train with a buddy, let people know when you go paddling and when you expect to be back.
Use a leash and PFD, and carry a form of communication.
Know your limits, and be aware of the weather and water conditions. Dress accordingly.
Do you offer coaching?
Just to be clear, a training plan and coaching are different.
If you are interested in coaching, we offer the following paid services:
1. One-on-One consulting ( if you want to deep dive your training and get feedback on the work you are putting in).
2. We offer Technique Sessions here in the Gorge throughout the summer, and at events we attend.
3. We offer Virtual Technique coaching.
