Overview
Nordic Kayaks Double 670: Two's Company. Especially Downwind.
Ever wanted to share the magic of a proper downwind run with someone who has absolutely no idea what they're doing yet? The Double 670 was built precisely for that moment. Our design brief was simple: create a double surfski where an experienced paddler can take a complete beginner out into real ocean conditions and have a genuinely great time — together. Mission very much accomplished.
The Double comes with two fully independent control systems, and here's where it gets clever: it can be controlled from the front, the rear, or both simultaneously. That last option makes the Double an outstanding coaching and instruction boat — front and rear pedals working in harmony, helping less experienced paddlers develop their feel for the water while the person behind them quietly makes sure everything stays on track. A driving school for the sea, essentially. A rather fast and enjoyable one at that.
The shorter hull combined with generous keel rocker gives the Double a level of maneuverability and spontaneous responsiveness that you really wouldn't expect from a double ski. It goes where you point it, promptly and without argument. Meanwhile, Nordic Kayaks' high-end autoclave and prepreg construction means you get a boat that is exceptionally light, hard, and robust all at once — the middle CarbonLite build comes in at just 14 kg (30.9 lbs), which for a double surfski is frankly a little bit ridiculous in the best possible way.
Both cockpits have been refined over years of real-world experience, featuring perfectly shaped ergonomic seats and footwell layouts that allow proper, effective footwork for both paddlers. Beverage bottle holders are tucked neatly under the knees for quick, no-faff access to the NK drinking bottle — included as standard, because hydration shouldn't require a pit stop. The legendary deBrito self-bailer does its usual excellent job of keeping things dry, easily operated with the foot without breaking your paddle rhythm. And in this updated second version, the paddle insert edges on the rear cockpit have been redesigned to allow for a notably narrower paddle entry — so the person in the back can paddle with the same efficiency and technique as the front.
Whether you're introducing a loved one to the sport, running coaching sessions, or simply looking for a shared adventure on the water, the Double 670 delivers — twice over.
