Meet the K1 45 — the racing kayak that keeps making paddlers do a double take. Part of the NK K1 family alongside the 40, 41, and 43 cm models, all four share hull shapes developed directly from our surfski lineage, optimised for hydrodynamics and built with our famously light carbon fibre construction. The result across the range is a set of kayaks that are beautifully easy to drive, regardless of which width you choose. Fast, refined, and deeply satisfying to paddle.
The K1 45 takes everything that makes the narrower models quick and capable, and adds a level of stability that genuinely catches people off guard. Time and again, paddlers tell us the same thing: they simply didn't expect a 45 cm (17.7") wide racing kayak to feel this composed. We take that as a compliment every single time.
The seat deserves a special mention. Rather than the open, flat design you'll find on more typical racing kayaks, the K1 45 features a fully supportive seat that wraps around you properly — the difference in comfort over longer sessions is immediately noticeable. The sloping rear of the seat promotes excellent rotation and leg drive, so your technique stays sharp even when the kilometres start stacking up. And because paddlers come in all shapes, sizes, and preferences, the seat is adjustable across four height settings so you can dial in exactly the position that works for you.
Steering is equally well thought out. Choose between pedal steering or a more traditional T-bar setup — both fit within the same intuitive adjustment system — and combine either with the adjustable foot strap for a stable, secure footrest and quick, responsive rudder control. No compromises, just options.
