The K1 40 is the sharpest tool in the NK racing kayak box. Sharing the same surfski-derived hull philosophy and featherlight carbon fibre construction as the rest of the K1 family, the 40 cm (15.7") width is where outright speed takes centre stage — and it delivers in style.
Available in three sizes, each optimised for a specific paddler profile, the K1 40 leaves nothing on the table.
The K1 40 XL is a proven, exceptionally fast hull built for larger paddlers over 80 kg (176 lbs). Equally at home in sprint and marathon racing, this is a boat with serious pedigree that performs when the pressure is on.
The K1 40 L is our latest hull shape, developed specifically for racing and marathon paddlers in the 70–85 kg (154–187 lbs) range. Known for its adaptable behaviour and efficient wash handling, the L is as comfortable sitting on someone's wash in a pack as it is out front making the pace. Versatile, refined, and very, very quick.
The K1 40 M is the smallest volume in the K1 40 model. It has all of the characteristics of the bigger sizes, just packaged for lighter paddlers under 75kg (165lbs).
The seat is a flat, supportive platform design that positions you perfectly for long training sessions and race days alike — a thoughtful step away from the overly shaped seats found on more typical racing boats, and one that gives you the freedom to move and adjust naturally. The sloping rear promotes healthy rotation and leg drive, and four height adjustment settings mean you can fine-tune your fit to exactly where you want it.
For steering, choose between pedals or traditional T-bar — both fitting neatly into the same adjustment system — and pair either with the adjustable foot strap for a secure, locked-in feel and crisp, reliable rudder response when every fraction of a second counts.
